I am a highly experienced, multiple award winning and fully trained composer. I can create original music for any occasion.

  • Chamber Music New Zealand
    I was commissioned to write a 10 minute composition for violin and piano for John Chen and Julia McCarthy to play in a 16 concert tour of New Zealand in 2007. View a sample of the score.

  • SOUNZ Centre for New Zealand Music
    I was commissioned by the SOUNZ Community Commission in 2006 write a fanfare for the Manukau City Symphony Orchestra. Fanfare for Manukau will be premiered in December 2007. View a sample of the score.
  • Loose Ends, directed by Chris White.
    I wrote an extensive orchestral soundtrack for the 10 minute black comedy. Loose Ends was premiered at the Auckland International Film Festival in July 2006.

 

Music Copyist and Engraver

I provide commercial music copying and engraving services for film, television, live broadcast, or any situation.

My services include copying, engraving, score and part preparation from a handwritten score, a computer generated score, or a MIDI file, score cleanup and part extraction, PDF creation of score and parts and transposition.

Orchestrator and Arranger

Professional, publication quality scores and parts for any instrumental or vocal combination for film, television, live broadcast, or any situation.

I have created professional orchestrations/arrangements for a number of various occasions, including the arrangement of popular and classical music for the Adesso Strings to play at weddings. Other arrangements and orchestrations also include classical pieces, solos and duets for students and other compositions.

Clarinet Tuition

I have a BMus in clarinet performance from the University of Auckland and an ATCL from the Trinity College London. For performance in the NZSO National Youth Orchestra I have also received two Auckland University Blue Award.

I have experience in teaching both private and group lessons. I have been a clarinet teacher at the Howick School of Music, Baradene College, Rodney College and the Auckland Community Learning Centre.

Composition Tuition

In 2007 I completed a Master of Music degree with distinction from the New Zealand School of Music. I also have a Bachelor of Music degree with first class honours from the University of Auckland. In 2007, after completing my Masters degree I spent six months studying in Europe under some of their finest composers.

I am currently working at Unitec New Zealand as a Part-time Lecturer where I am lecturing in Composition. I also have experience in composition tutoring and have tutored NCEA Composition and have spoken at the University of Auckland Academy of Music on Composition and Clarinet Performance.

Music Theory Tuition

In year 12 at school I gained AMusTCL. From there, I completed numerous University papers in Harmony and Counterpoint, Analysis and Musical History as a part of my BMus (Hons) degree.

Sibeilus music notation software

I have been using Sibelius notation software for over 10 years. All my own compositions are notated with Sibelius. I have also had tutorials on Sibelius 4 from MusiTech Enterprises Ltd.
